Biographical: David Connolly

David Connolly (david.connolly@ul.ie) received a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and the University Gold Medal from the University of Limerick in 2007.
Subsequently, he joined the Charles Parsons Initiative (http://www.cpi.ul.ie/) also at the University of Limerick to undertake a PhD in pumped-hydroelectric energy-storage.
To date, his PhD has focused on the technical feasibility of PHES, by developing a computer tool that searches for potential PHES locations.
In addition, he is also investigating the feasibility of a 100% renewable energy-system for Ireland, by simulating different energy scenarios for Ireland using the EnergyPLAN model developed at Aalborg University (http://energy.plan.aau.dk/).
His PhD is supervised by Dr. Martin Leahy (martin.leahy@ul.ie) from the University of Limerick, and Prof. Henrik Lund (lund@plan.aau.dk) from Aalborg University
